The tea got its name from the village where this tea is produced. Lao Ban Zhang Village is located in Bu Lang Mountains, Meng Hai County (Southwest Yunnan). The history of this tea in this village dates back to 1476. There are currently 117 Bu Lang families living in the village, the village itself is located 1700-1900 meters above sea level. These are quite rare elevations for the tropical south side of Yunnan. The average annual temperature here is 18.7°C and for more than half of the year the village is immersed in a thick fog. In Lao Ban Zhang tea plantations, 78555 tea trees are more than 100 years old, 70866 are more than 200 years old, 37076 are more than 500 years old and 9412 are more than 800 years old. The tea trees are surrounded by jujube, they have never been fertilised or treated with pesticides. The locals tend their tea trees in old traditional ways. For a long time, it was a very quiet village, cut off from the world, but since 2000, when Pu-erh tea became very popular, traders began to flock to the village, buying the raw material and transporting it to their tea factories. Preparation: For one cup, a piece of the desired size is broken off and poured over with a filtered boiling water. Wait 2-5 minutes. Tea can be infused several times.
